Objectives of Internship

The heart of the internship experience is framed around three commitments: personal, team, and ministry development.

The summer internship is committed to the Personal Development of each student. Each intern will explore and experiment with their God-given gifts, passions, leadership style, and preferred spiritual pathways. In addition, throughout the summer they will go through eLeadership & eDisciplines training.

The summer internship also focuses on Team Development. Interns will learn to use their gifts, passions, and leadership style within a team environment. A significant part of the internship is learning how to work together for a common cause. There will be two ministry teams within this year’s internship. Each team will consist of 1 college student and 3 high school students. The college student will be the primary leader who activates their team in ministry activity.

In addition to this, the internship works for Ministry Development in four primary areas. They are:

  • Kids Club - Every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon the interns will go out into assigned neighborhoods around the church’s campus and lead a ministry to children that provides play, bible lessons, and relationship building.
  • Sunday School - Each Sunday the teams will provide God-focused activities to the children that attend.
  • Friday Focus - Each intern will be assigned (based on interest) to a staff leader who will offer hands-on experience in their area of ministry (i.e. music ministry, community development, grounds keeping, administration, etc.)
  • VBS middle school - all interns will pre-plan, organize, and execute the middle school portion of the Vacation Bible School ministry.
