There are many dynamics and different interests within any given LifeGroup. Our LifeGroup tries to utilize these dynamics in positive ways. One way we do this is through serving others. There are some things about serving that may not be for everybody, and sometimes we find ourselves outside of our comfort level. We may not know what to say when talking to strangers. We may be uncomfortable meeting new people. But, we follow God’s example and encourage each other when serving others.
A few years ago we decided to take our serving to a new level, although it took some convincing to get everybody onboard. Our LifeGroup has taken on a neighborhood ministry started by Matt Lehr. We provide a monthly summer cookout for a neighborhood near church, and over the years, we have gotten to know them and establish a relationship. By sharing a meal, we have been able to find many of those commonalities that we share with each other and with our LifeGroup. Our neighbors share their tears and triumphs with us, and there are times we pray for individuals who may be hurting.
This ministry has brought our LifeGroup closer together through good leadership and teamwork. It has been good to see our group move outside our comfort to do things we never thought we would, to further Gods Kingdom.
