Kids Hope Student Models Fruits of the Spirit

Kids Hope was thrilled to partner with Camp Geneva again this year. In doing so, we were able to help send five of our students to Camp Geneva for one week in August. At the conclusion of camp, I received this email from Pam DeJong. Pam is the mentor of one of the Kids Hope students who attended Camp Geneva this summer.

“I just wanted to share with you the phone call I just received from my Kids Hope student and her grandma. She wanted to tell me what a wonderful time she had at Camp Geneva; that she had received the Polar Bear award, met new friends, and had a lot of fun. (We’re meeting for dinner later this week so she can tell me all the details.)

Then her grandma got on the phone to tell me a story that was shared with her by one of the Camp Geneva counselors. One day, my student was in line at the general store and a little boy ahead of her was buying a few things, but didn't have enough money on his punch card. The girl behind my student told the boy he needed to get out of line and go to the back because he was holding everyone else up. My student turned to her and said, "no he doesn't!" Then she turned to the boy and asked how much money he needed. He needed $4 and some odd cents, so she reached in her pocket and gave him her last $5. The boy said to her, "you don't have to do that" and she said "yes, I do."  Then she turned to the girl behind her and said, "you really need to find Jesus in your life because He would want you to help others.”

By now both grandma and I are crying on the phone. Grandma thanked Calvary and Kids Hope for all we have done and meant to her granddaughter. So, I just want you to know what I have known for the past five years..... what a wonderful, sweet, loving, caring child of God my Kids Hope student is! “

Yeah God for loving this precious girl who is such an inspiration to us! Yeah Calvary for supporting the Kids Hope Ministry! Yeah Pam for modeling God's love to your student by showing up in her life on a regular basis! Yeah Kids Hope student for being an example to us of what it means to have the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives and for passing along love, kindness, and goodness to this little boy!
