Called to serve in Laos

Somsay and Seune Inthisorn have been members of Calvary Church since May. They had lived in Holland for several years, but moved back to Laos in June after Somsay completed Calvin Seminary. Laos is a country closed to Christianity, which means people cannot speak of their faith in Jesus Christ or they could be put in prison or be expelled from the country. Somsay and Seune have a passion for Laos that over the years, has not gone away. They have decided to move back to Laos to be missionaries in this country. Somsay cannot be open about being a minister, but still hopes to have opportunities to teach other pastors. They are living and working on a mushroom farm,  supporting themselves through this work and through the cooking that Seune does. She is a fantastic cook! (Calvary staff was able to taste a meal that Seune made.)

This is a recent update from Somsay.  “My wife Seune and I are doing well now.  I have the chance to preach and teach at the church, but I do not want to present myself much on the stage, so when I preach or teach I have to do it carefully. We are spending time visiting our neighbors to build up relationships. I was asked by an evangelist team to do a mission trip to the north side of Laos with them, to teach the leaders of the church. There will be at least 25-30 people from four provinces attending. Please pray for me as it is challenging and I have not made a decision yet.  I wish to go, but I need to think about our safety. Please continue to pray for us and our ministry.”

At the end of this month Paull Phouthaphone, another member of Calvary, will be going to Laos to run a school. Paull and Somsay will work together to quietly spread the Gospel message in this country. Please pray for these families as they are separated from their loved ones and require great wisdom in the work they are doing.
